Lost in Fiber Library is an ‘archiving as art’ and special collections project highlighting the intersections of art/craft materiality and the preservation of artifacts, place, and texts.
The library has gallery and research locations in New York City, Italy, and Sofia, Bulgaria (where Abigail is also the Archivist and Cultural Programs Manager for the Haemimont Foundation). Exhibitions or ‘editions’ are curated by the artist in addition to the sharing of materials for cultural programming, exhibitions, and design events.

Light or luminosity is created by the way
elements are juxtaposed.
They become reflective and a radiance comes
from putting different things together.
– Merce Cunningham
“We never look at just one thing; we are always looking at the relations between things and ourselves.”
“Time, place, materials, shelter. The essential elements that enable us to take root, find community, and gather ourselves during challenging times. Folded into this equation is the very notion of meaningful work, true purpose, and the myriad ways that we approach craft and the organization of workspace.”
“Nature inspires me, but not in cliché ways. I like to examine the underside of things, the marginalized, the fragile or muted/silenced.”
“At first I thought that there was nothing there ... I was always having to adjust my eyes back and forth - both far and close, which is how I think about my own work sometimes. It lies somewhere between distance and intimacy. ”
“The ‘getting lost’ aspect of exploring fiber’s materiality is what lured me in initially as well as its potential as a cultural connector and crafting matrix for modern artifacts and handmade objects. A sustained interest in highlighting the authenticity and regional specificity of fiber is what continually keeps me engaged in ways that also reflect my environmental concerns/research.”
